Honoring the Burma Banshees, the courageous war heroes who protected the skies over Burma, India, from 1942 to 1945

The “Silent Generation” is silent no more…
The moniker “Greatest Generation” has been bestowed upon our World War II veterans, yet the “CBI Theater,” often dubbed the “Forgotten WW II Theater,” remains hidden in the annals of history. This platform is a tribute to the brave souls who served in the 80th Fighter Group, known as “The Burma Banshees,” shedding light on a chapter of WW II that deserves recognition.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

The brave veterans of the 80th Fighter Group have remained silent too long

In the chronicles of World War II, this chapter, often referred to as the “Unknown War” has languished in obscurity. It is high time we heed their untold stories.

What you will discover here is a treasure trove of history, long concealed within shoe boxes and forgotten scrapbooks. These relics have been tucked away for decades, their tales hidden from the world. Among the ranks of the Burma Banshees, a few dedicated souls began collecting photographs of their wartime experiences. Today, these invaluable memories are emerging from the shadows.

Each collection is a testament to the courage and sacrifice of those who served, meticulously organized by the very individuals who brought them to light. Robin Adair, the son of Colonel Philip Adair of the 89th Fighter Squadron, initiated this digital archive as a labor of love and respect back in 2000. His mission: to preserve and share his father’s poignant WW II scrapbook, a trove of postcards, original photographs, photocopied memories, newspaper clippings, and magazine articles.

Little did Adair know that his humble endeavor would capture the attention of a global audience. Today, we extend an open invitation to you to contribute to the enduring legacy of the Burma Banshees. Contact us to let us ensure that these unsung heroes and their remarkable stories are never silenced again.
